India's electric scooter market is poised for significant growth, with several prominent manufacturers planning to launch new models in 2023. Here's an overview of some of the most anticipated electric scooters:
1. Honda Activa Electric
Honda is set to electrify its popular Activa scooter, with the electric variant expected to debut in September 2023. The Activa Electric is anticipated to feature a design similar to its petrol counterpart, possibly offering both fixed and swappable battery options. Honda has also partnered with Hindustan Petroleum to establish battery-swapping stations across India, enhancing the scooter's practicality.

Range: Approximately 95 km on a single charge
2. Suzuki Burgman Electric
Suzuki's Burgman Electric is slated for an April 2024 launch. This scooter maintains the aesthetic appeal of its internal combustion engine counterpart, featuring a bulbous front apron and a flowing tail section. Equipped with a 4kW motor, it offers a range between 60 to 80 km. The Burgman Electric also boasts Bluetooth connectivity, allowing riders to pair it with their smartphones.

3. Yamaha E-01
Yamaha is developing the E-01, a sporty electric scooter tailored for the Indian market. Initially, the company considered introducing the Neo's model but shifted focus to the E-01 to meet the demand for premium electric scooters. While specific details are pending, the E-01 is expected to embody Yamaha's signature sporty design and performance. 
4. Hero Electric AE-8
Unveiled at the Auto Expo, the Hero Electric AE-8 is a neo-retro scooter that promises an 80 km range on a single charge and a top speed of 25 km/h. It features a full-LED headlight with a halo LED DRL and a digital instrument console.

5. Kinetic e-Luna
The iconic Luna moped is making a comeback in an electric avatar. The e-Luna retains the classic moped design with modern touches like LED lighting and an LCD instrument cluster. It offers practical features such as a split-seat setup and the option to install a top box, enhancing its utility. 
Expected Range: Approximately 50-70 km
6. Bajaj Chetak Electric (Upgraded Model)
Bajaj is set to upgrade its Chetak electric scooter, potentially increasing its range to 110 km from the current 95 km. The new model might feature a larger 4 kWh battery, maintaining the scooter's premium feel with a robust steel unibody and modern features like Bluetooth connectivity and geo-fencing. 
7. Ather's New Models
Ather Energy plans to expand its lineup with two new models focusing on comfort and practicality, complementing its existing sporty 450 series. These upcoming scooters are expected to offer larger dimensions for enhanced rider and pillion comfort, along with increased under-seat storage. 
These upcoming models reflect the industry's commitment to sustainable mobility, offering consumers a variety of choices to suit different preferences and needs.
