New Jeep Wagoneer COV Shoots For Ford’s Cop Car Crown

Newest Wagoneer specialized for law enforcement and VIP transportation

A few years ago, the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer made a comeback, catapulting Jeep back into the mix of the best luxury three-row SUVs. Such is the Wagoneer’s combination of performance, technology, and practicality, that it’s now being released as a Command Operations Vehicle (COV). For use in law enforcement and high-profile transportation, the Wagoneer COV receives a range of updates to optimize it for these jobs. It’s also a great option for any law enforcement organization looking to update its fleet of Ford Police Interceptor Utility vehicles.

Police officers don’t always want to make their presence known, and for this reason, the Wagoneer COV is stealthily attired. In fact, it looks just like any other Wagoneer, until you see the red and blue lighting within the grille, windshield, and rear window light up.

The upfit package includes the following additions outside the vehicle:

It’s everything the Wagoneer COV needs to function as a pursuit vehicle, or to get VIPs from point A to point B as quickly and safely as possible.

Enough Power For Quick Getaways

Sufficient power is important in a law enforcement or VIP transportation vehicle. Fortunately, the Wagoneer’s standard 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged Hurricane six-cylinder engine is up to the task, thanks to 420 horsepower – 20 hp more than the Ford Police Interceptor Utility’s available EcoBoost engine. Despite all the extra equipment, the Wagoneer COV can still manage a 6.3-second 0-60 sprint, and it has a towing capacity of up to 10,000 lbs.

A Quadra-Lift air suspension with automatic rear load leveling and a 240-amp alternator are also included, and Jeep says customers can choose between short- and long-wheelbase derivatives.

Spacious Seating And Full Safety Suite

The Wagoneer COV can seat eight occupants, and they’ll be taken care of with leather upholstery and three-zone climate control. Jeep also claims best-in-class legroom in the back two rows, plus cargo space of up to 130 cubic feet.

Driver-assistance safety tech becomes even more crucial in the Wagoneer COV, which is why this model has over 130 safety and security features. Besides a head-up display and night vision, drivers can keep an eye on surroundings via the surround-view camera system. These vehicles will often be driven at high speeds, so tech like automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, and active lane management become even more important.

“From Washington, D.C., motorcades to high-profile logistic requirements in every state and county across America, the Jeep Wagoneer COV is set to become a new leader in secure VIP transportation, having already gained a high level of interest from government agencies since its introduction in January 2025,” said Ryan Austin, Stellantis law enforcement program manager. “The Jeep brand’s reputation of rugged refinement sets the stage to make it the standard-bearer for our law enforcement and VIP protection program for years to come.”

Under the Stellantis group of law enforcement vehicles, the Wagoneer COV joins the Dodge Durango Pursuit SUV, which is still offered with a 360-hp Hemi V8 for the 2026 model year.
