Mercedes Concept AMG GT XX Gallery: The 1,341-HP Coupe In Pictures

Watch Out, Porsche Taycan

Mercedes-AMG has pulled out all the stops for this new electric four-door coupe concept, giving us a look at a potent production model set for arrival in 2026. Not only does the Concept AMG GT XX look special, but this ultra-powerful EV will be able to hit 223 mph, a staggering achievement for an EV, let alone one that can carry passengers in the back. Having already pushed the boundaries of what can be achieved in a hybrid with the AMG ONE, the GT XX looks to do the same for EVs.

Finished in Sunset Beam Orange, the new Concept AMG GT XX is a low-slung four-door electric coupe. Its innovations are planned to be used on future series-production models using the AMG Electric Architecture (AMG.EA).

2

Not many aspects of this concept are shared with other AMG models, but there is a familiar AMG grille with vertical struts. In this case, is has a more oval and concave shape than we’re used to seeing.

Six circular taillights are completely unique relative to other AMGs. We can also see recessed door handles, a rear-integrated airbrake, and a prominent AMG logo between the taillight clusters.

4

Evident from the back is the double-bubble roof, and there is no rear windshield. However, this could change for the production model.

A low rear end and special underbody aerodynamic features have eliminated the need for a large rear spoiler, while allowing the car to retain its slippery shape.

Wide, high-performance tires are fitted and wrapped around 21-inch active aero wheels that optimize cooling of the brakes. On the hood, there are two-part air outlets with dual fins. This design can dissipate warm air from the front section of the car.

Three axial flux electric motors power the GT XX, and they have a combined peak output of 1,341 horsepower. AMG says the power density of such motors are about three times that of normal ones, and they’re also lighter. No acceleration times were quoted, but it should be brutally quick with standard 4Matic+ variable AWD, and the top speed is 223 mph.

Oh, and don’t worry – this electric AMG will sound good, too.

The driver’s cockpit is clearly race-car inspired, starting with the rectangular-shaped steering wheel that is similar to the wheel in the AMG ONE hypercar.

9

While there are dual screens as in most modern Mercs, the GT XX’s screens are more obviously angled in the direction of the driver. The body structure has been left exposed in sections like the center console, creating a dramatic and illuminated division between the driver and front passenger.

10

A biotechnology-based alternative to leather has been used for the seats, which is made using tires from AMG GT3 racing cars.

11

A 10.25-inch screen sits directly ahead of the driver; to the right of this is a 14-inch touchscreen.

12

Orange ambient lighting is everywhere, including in these slats on the dashboard ahead of the front passenger.

The hazard button on the center console bridge is about the only element of the interior that looks conventional. Everything else is dripping with innovation.
