Next-Gen Hyundai Creta Under Development, Launch Likely In 2027: Report
Hyundai Creta is presently sold in its second-gen facelift versionHyundai Motor India has recently been dominating the SUV segment because of the strong numbers accumulated by the popular Creta. The car has been one of the most prominent models in its segment since its launch in the country. Basking in the success of the climbing sales graph, the brand launched the second-generation facelift version of the SUV in January 2024. Now reports have surfaced on the internet that the South Korean automaker has already started working on the development of the third-generation Hyundai Creta. This latest iteration of the vehicle will likely make its debut in 2027
Hyundai is actively developing the third-generation Creta, with a projected launch in 2027. Internally codenamed "SX3," this upcoming model will be manufactured at Hyundai's plant in Tamil Nadu, India.
While specific design details remain under wraps, the new Creta is anticipated to feature significant styling updates, aligning it with Hyundai's evolving design language. The interior is expected to offer enhanced comfort and advanced safety features, aiming to elevate the overall driving experience.
Under the hood, the third-generation Creta is likely to retain the current engine lineup:
1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine: Produces 115 PS.
1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine: Delivers 160 PS.
1.5-litre diesel engine: Generates 116 PS.
These engines are expected to be paired with both manual and automatic transmission options. Notably, Hyundai is exploring the introduction of a strong hybrid powertrain for the Creta, which could become the brand's first hybrid offering in the Indian market.
By the time of its debut, the current second-generation Creta will have been in the market for approximately seven years, making the 2027 launch timely for a comprehensive update. The Creta continues to be a significant player in the compact SUV segment, competing with models like the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Honda Elevate.
In addition to the internal combustion engine variant, Hyundai is also planning a mid-cycle update for the Creta Electric in 2027, focusing on design tweaks, technological enhancements, and possibly an extended driving range through improved battery management.
These developments underscore Hyundai's commitment to innovation and adaptability in the evolving automotive landscape.
